These two are something we’ve seen requested time and time again over the internet, so we’ve decided to release it ourselves! We will not be translating the anime series itself any time soon in order to support the new official release. But we may do the other movies and specials!

(A small note from Hikari Sama: This is our first soft sub release so don’t hesitate to let us know if you have problems with the files!)

Make Up! Sailor Soldiers

In this short, Chibiusa and Usagi eavesdrop on two girls’ conversation about the Sailor Soldiers over which one is the best. Unfortunately for Usagi, the girls don’t seem to remember Sailor Moon.

Sailor Moon R: The Movie

A mysterious man appears before Mamoru while he and the girls visit the botanical gardens. Soon flower monsters begin attacking the neighbourhood and Mamoru is taken away by the new enemy… Sailor Moon and the Sailor Soldiers must teleport onto their asteroid base to save the world from being suffocated by flowers.

Aah my favorite movie! And its soooo good.

These lovable cat-themed sweets were made by Caroline, a Japanese housewife. She creates them annually on Cat’s Day — February 22. The cat-shaped sweets are nerikiri: a traditional Japanese sweet made by mixing sweet white bean paste and glutinous rice. Caroline tints and sculpts them into various shapes and styles; then puts them on pancakes and doughnuts as edible decorations. They’re just too cute to eat!

Sailor Moon Trivia: CereCere & CandyCandy

The Amazones Quartet member “CereCere" bears a striking resemblance to Eliza from the famous 70s series “Candy Candy”. They both share pink curls and a trademark yellow ribbon with red slanted eyes. Furthermore, they share very similar personalities and mannerism as high class young ladies who use their wealth and influence to bring misery onto whoever they do not like. Naoko Takeuchi is noted to be a fan of Candy Candy.

Some have likened the success of Sailor Moon to be the “Candy Candy” of its generation.

Speculation Time: If this was indeed an intentional on Naoko’s part, it is possible that this explains CereCere’s pink-dominant colour scheme rather than an orange or yellow dominant scheme like her assumed counterpart Sailor Venus, or else this could all be a complete coincidence.

Remember that time I singlehandedly translating all the Sailor Moon Musicals in less than a year and all I got was because screamed at by strangers

Anonymous said: I really like your translation but I wish you wouldnt use "mama" because we just don't really do that in english at all, its quite unusual, it just sounds really infantile when you've got young adult females saying that even ifthey're talking to children, that's all!

I think this is actually another case of regional English. Where I come from, its quite usual to call your Mother “Mama” and to refer to other people’s mothers as “Annie’s Mama” right up to adulthood. Its always hard to be aware on what’s normal across all English regional and whats culturally-specific, I’m sorry for that =\ I think its just because I’m so used to saying/hearing that. I mean I am nearly ## years old and I still call my mother “Mama” that it seemed right to put in?

While it may not be said often in the US, there are areas and families that still use the term. It just sounds a bit more “old fashioned” but considering that its ALWAYS used in Japanese (like they literally SAY “mama”, not a japanese word for mama but MA MA)…I think its ok to use mama.

I should start calling my mom “mama” and see how she reacts. xD

Sailor Moon Episode 2 Viz’s Dub

Oh yay the fortune teller episode!

STILL do not like Umino’s voice…

I like that the minor characters and background voices sound good. I remember back in the day when those characters would sound awful.

MOTOKIIIIIIIII!!!! :D  Soooo cute.  So much better than Crystal!Motoki.

Wait… does Usagi know his name at this point?? I thought she always just called him “Oniichan”

Luna that is not normal cat behavior.

English pronunciation of Usagi is weird but what do you expect. But I don’t believe ts said incorrectly?

Sometimes I feel these voices are TOO “new” for this old of an anime.  At least for some characters. Still liking Usagi, Stephanie Sheh is doing a good job so far. It’ll be interesting to see her in the more emotional scenes. LIKE THE FINALEEEE.

Mamoru should sound more handsome and cool but i can understand this tone for him since he’s a butt in the first season. xD I hope the voice actor does a better range of voices for him.

So far all the villain voices have been great!

I can’t get over the eye catch though…

OMG UMINO. YOU CREEP. His creep voice is fitting for him being brainwashed…

"How about a kiss?" UGH THIS IS SO MUCH CREEPIER IN ENGLISH THAN JAPANESE. Like i felt actually disturbed and frightened for Usagi.

I kinda miss Tracey Moore’s and Terri Hawkes’ crying though. xD

Its nice to finally officially get this episode dubbed. This was a pretty good development episode for Usagi. Its not like she just instantly catches on with being Sailor Moon, she struggles and even forgets the transformation phrase.

Heeeey Tux! Cheesy grin xD

LOL Usagi’s “OKAY!” was super cute.

Ok Umino freaking out and saying “oh no no no no” was pretty awesome.

JUST NOTICED: I do not like her “Moonlight is the messenger of love”. Originally said softly and romantically… This way is too perky.

And thats as late as I’m staying up. I gotta get up early. I should do this for other things I watch (lol too bad i pretty much only watch SM lately).

Watching the new dub of Sailor Moon. Episode 1 Thoughts so far:

Still no subs on moonlight densetsu. Its ok, their translation is probably wonky anyway…

Voices are pretty good so far. Though some are missing the charm of the original. I prefer the original Melvin/Umino voice.

Liking Mamoru’s voice so far.

Shingo sounds so much older wtf…

There are less “orgasmic” sounding moans so far… just the normal night. xD

I miss British Luna, even though she is supposed to sound young…but… ugh. Its Rukia. And I’ve only watched like 2 episodes of Bleach and i recognize it.

Moon Prism Power Make up is nice to hear in english. :D

My favorite part will always be Tuxedo Mask saying “crying will not solve your problems” (or something to that extent) when crying actually saves the day here. xD Shows what he knows.

Its really nice being able to watch the first season with the original music in english tho.

This is totally better than Crystal…

So nice to hear Heart Moving (i will always love the animation for Heart Moving)… though I think it would’ve been nice to do english versions of the theme songs. Sometimes dub companies do a pretty decent job making english versions of japanese themes (Dragonball Kai’s Dragon Soul comes to mind, it was pretty good in english).

ANNND thats it for episode one.  What did you all think?

My favourite posts are the ones that complain about whitewashing by Toei but they’re the same people who culturally whitewash Sailor Moon every single time they discuss it.
